Be Yourself

Be Yourself

Here’s a Sunday reminder:

Be Yourself

#BeYourself. I’ve gotten better at learning my physical limits. Hell, I’ve gotten better at accepting I have physical limits at all (having chronic health issues sucks). I’ve learned to prioritize what I need and what my body needs over the needs of others. There are certain people in my life who are very demanding, often asking me (metaphorically) to jump and waiting for me to say ‘how high’. I’ve gotten better at saying ‘fuck you’ instead (or a nicer version of that).

Being yourself sometimes means putting your needs before others, and not apologizing for it. Maybe I can’t go out as much as I used to, because if I have a rough day I know staying home is better for me long-term. Maybe I can’t make that two-hour drive to someone’s house, or do this or do that…but that doesn’t mean I can’t do anything. Some people, however, only want you on THEIR terms, not yours. So, any alternative suggestions you make for get-togethers or dates are left ignored or unanswered.

That means I’m saying ‘No’ more often, and I’m okay with that. Saying no anytime you fucking want to, in fact, is okay. If you’re not used to saying it, then it might take time for you to get used to it but you will. Try it. Say no to that thing you don’t really want to do anyway. Say no to spending time with people who don’t value you.

Even if no one else wants you to be yourself, then tell them to fuck off and go be yourself on your own.

Are you good at saying no? Comment on this post and let me know (if you’re receiving the blog by email, just click “Read More” to navigate to the blog page to comment).

    Congratulations
Being kind to yourself is far more important to your health and well-being
Than trying to please everyone else.
I learnt the hard way too
