Weekend Plans – Week 8

Time to post my weekend plans…

Weekend Plans - Week 8

It’s a long weekend in the US, which means I get a bonus day off on Monday for working on my books (I LOVE having more time to devote to my author biz, so this makes me super happy). My houseguests have left and my cold seems to be calming down, so I am going full force this weekend to get things done. I have a very ambitious to-do list:

Need-to-do: Finish Seaside Valleria 3! This is the top priority for the weekend. I am loving the main characters, and am going to push hard to finish this up by Monday and get it to my editor.

Other Need-to-dos: Finish testing Rush. I found some hiccups with the ebook that need sorting out, which is why I haven’t finished it yet. When I finish up writing, I’ll focus on this next. Besides Rush, my other goal is working to finalize Ripple; that book won’t be released until the end of June but I’d like to finish it up so I can focus on other things. I’d like to get pre-orders of both these books up soon (especially Rush, since I want to release it in early June).

Someone mentioned to me that my past few weekend plan posts have been focused on the same books/projects – they’re right. Writing a book, finishing it up, testing it, making sure it’s publication ready…all of that takes A LOT of time, particularly if you’re a self-published author like me who is doing much of the work yourself while working a day job. It can take only a few hours to read the book, but it takes months and months to write it, edit it, finalize it and work on all the little details that’s involved with publishing a book. Traditionally-published books also take several months as well (one author told me it takes nine months AFTER she finishes writing the book until it gets to publication, so one book could take a whole year from start-to-finish, depending upon how fast she wrote it).

I hope you’re all still finding these glimpses into my author life fresh and interesting, but if there’s something else you’d like to hear to write about, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment on this post and let me know. I love to hear from readers!

~xoxo Marianne
